Warren and I gaze at each other silently after Dean leaves the office to go handle some other business at his law firm. The news he shared with us is more than I can handle. Not saying that I can handle a lot, but this was... My head hurts, my nose is red, and my eyes burn from how hard I’m crying. When Warren tires of all my whining, he picks me up and hoists me over his shoulder, taking me back to the parking lot. Warren sits me in his car, I buckle up, and he rounds the car to hop in. He leans over and presses a kiss to my temple.

“We’ll find her.” He turns the engine and looks over his shoulder before pulling onto the road. I lean my head against the window, smearing the glass, and gaze up at the gloomy, cloud covered sky. When was the last time we had a sunny day? I may be a child of the moon, but that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy the sunshine. Nothing seems bright lately, everything seems so somber.

Dean told Warren three things in the office: the elders disapproved of him marrying an omega, Warren had no right to kill Jasper and those two shifters at the mall, and Sapphire was now missing. Sapphire’s parents came to pick her up the night we were all working at The Den, and they couldn’t find her; no one could. It’s been two days now, and they put out a missing person report. I turn my head over my shoulder to check on Warren. His jaw is tight, causing his masseter muscles to bulge out, and he’s holding the steering wheel in a death grip. Warren’s stress smells like black licorice and malt beer. It smelt the same when he caught me running around town without a male at my side. Ever since the moon connected our hearts together, his stress is as good as mine.
